Joy Womack

Joy Womack is a world-renowned ballerina, pedagogue, and artistic leader with a distinguished international career. As one of the first American dancers to graduate from the prestigious Bolshoi Ballet Academy and join the Bolshoi Ballet as a full-time company member, she has performed on some of the most celebrated stages across Europe, Russia, and the United States. Her career has taken her to principal roles in leading ballet companies, showcasing her artistry, technical brilliance, and deep commitment to the art form.

Beyond her career as a performer, Joy is an accomplished ballet educator with a formal background in pedagogy. She studied at Moscow State University, specializing in ballet instruction and methodology, and has dedicated herself to mentoring the next generation of dancers. Her expertise in Vaganova technique, combined with her experience in contemporary ballet and stage artistry, has made her a sought-after teacher and coach worldwide.

Joy's journey has inspired two films about her life, highlighting her groundbreaking achievements and resilience in the ballet world. She has served as a jury member for prestigious international ballet competitions, helping to shape and recognize emerging talent. As the President of the Joy Womack Ballet Foundation (JWBF) and Joy Womack Ballet Conservatory (JWBC), she continues to create opportunities for aspiring dancers by providing world-class training, mentorship, and scholarships.

With an unwavering passion for ballet, Joy remains dedicated to performance, choreography, and education—bridging tradition with innovation to inspire dancers across the globe.

Meet the JWBA Instructors

 

Anton Maltsev

 

Anton Maltsev is an internationally acclaimed ballet dancer, choreographer, and pedagogue with a distinguished career in both performance and ballet education. A graduate of the prestigious Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Anton rose to prominence as a soloist with the Kremlin Ballet and Mikhailovsky Ballet, performing leading roles in classical and contemporary repertoire on some of the world’s most renowned stages.

Alongside his performing career, Anton pursued a deep commitment to ballet pedagogy, successfully earning a Ph.D. in Dance Pedagogy from both the Bolshoi Ballet Academy and the Vaganova Ballet Academy. His extensive academic and professional training has made him a sought-after ballet master, répétiteur, and educator, blending the traditions of Russian ballet with a modern, analytical approach to technique and performance.

Anton’s expertise extends beyond the stage, as he continues to mentor and train the next generation of dancers, refining their technique, artistry, and stage presence. His profound knowledge of ballet methodology and his dedication to the art form have established him as a leading figure in the international ballet community.

Yana

Yana was born in Ukraine on April 29, 1992. 

2007-2009 studied at the Higher School of Arts and Culture in Kharkov at the Faculty of Classical and Folk Dance.
2009-2014 - Kharkiv Academy of Arts and Culture, specialization in choreography (ballet and classical dance). She holds two diplomas of the highest degree Bachelor and Master of classical and folk choreography.vShe has the right to teach at international dance schools and universities for all age. 

Work experience
2007-2009: served as a ballet dancer in Higher school of Arts and Culture in Kharkov.
2009-2011: work like Choreographer and dance coach( ballet ,folk, ballroom dance style)
2011-2012,Ukraine,Kharkov city. Ballet teacher in famous dance school “Arabesque “
2013-2015,Ukraine,Kyiv city,”Treefrogtreasureas LLS school “Ballet teacher and choreographer for students.
2016-2017, touring Europe and America on a cruise ship as a ballet dancer
2018-2020 , worked as a ballet teacher in different cities of China, with children of different ages and levels.
2021-2022 , worked in Shanghai as a ballet and body ballet teacher for adults.
2022-2023 worked in Nantong ISee ballet school as a ballet teacher,with children age
5-15years old.
2023-2024 worked in Shenzhen Sufei Art education academy as a ballet teacher RAD system.(Bd-G4)  Yana has more than 7 years of experience in ballet and different styles of dance performances. More than 9 years as a ballet teacher. She also acted as a choreographer for various projects in Ukraine and abroad. Her children won prizes in competitions in different cities, including  in Shanghai in the Ballet category.
